The temperature is adjustable up to 120 degrees fahrenheit.
- How long does it take for a piece to warm up?
The pieces take about 20-30 minutes to fully warm up, depending on how high they are set and on the ambient temperature. If you are in very cold climates, they will take longer. You can help speed up the process by placing a blanket over the piece to trap the heat!
- Does it get too hot on sunny days?
The dark colored stone will warm up in direct sunlight, however the stone will stay cool if it is in the shade, even on a hot day.
- Does Galanter & Jones furniture work in the snow?
Yes! Our pieces are wonderful in cold climates. Please keep in mind that they will take longer to heat up if it is very cold outdoors. They will reach about 100 degrees if it is freezing outside. If it is below freezing, go inside!
- I live near the sea. Will the metal frame rust?
The frames are made from powder-coated stainless steel, which has great corrosion and weather resistance.
- Will the electrical elements be safe in the rain?
Yes, the cords are outdoor grade and outdoor outlets are required by National Electrical Code to be ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected. These units trip off when there is a current leakage or a short circuit.
- Is the heating efficient?
Yes, the seats run on electricity and are more efficient than a propane space heater or any other alternative.

- What are the power cord options?
Standard cord configuration is approximately 8 ft long, exiting the back right leg when seated. If you require something different, please let us know within 5 days of your order.
- Will it fade in the sun?
Nope! Our pigments are made from metal oxides and are naturally UV resistant.
- How will my piece of Galanter & Jones furniture wear?
Our pieces are hand made natural materials so slight variation in the finish and color is likely and not considered a defect. Hairline cracks can form over time and are not to be considered a defect. Galanter & Jones pieces are resilient, however unintentional damage can occur and is easily avoidable. In order to avoid the formation of visible scratches, do not place or drag sharp or coarse objects on the surface (like those keys in your pocket!). Avoid any contact with acidic materials on the surface such as citrus, berries, olive oil, red wine as they can be harsh to the sealant and can possibly stain. Be mindful of accidentally hitting the edges as this can cause small chips to occur.
- What’s the best way to care for my Galanter & Jones furniture?
Keep them clean! Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner or simply warm water and a soft towel. Avoid anything abrasive, acidic or that contains bleach. These could damage the sealer. If you won’t be using the pieces for an extended period of time, we recommend a cover. Let us know if you are interested in ordering one!
- Well, this seems like a good idea for the east coast, why are you in California?
Our heated seats are for relaxing in all climates. California has plenty of beautiful weather but also a fair share of cloudy days and chilly nights that might normally drive you inside. Our piece will keep you happy outdoors through all seasons.
- Are your pieces UL listed?
- My furniture isn’t working! What’s wrong?
Make sure that your piece is plugged into a working electrical outlet. You can tell the piece is getting power if you hear the relay click when you turn it on.
